Anthony J. Merolla, a lifelong resident of the Bronx, died on December 11, 2022. He was 93.
Mr. Merolla was born on December 28, 1928 in the Bronx to the late Luca and Maria (Cuomo) Merolla. On January 13, 1951 he married Marie (Tellone). She died on March 30, 2022. He served in the United States Army and retired as a Colonel from the Army Reserves. He was a parishioner of St. Clare’s Church and served as the Executive Secretary of the Archdiocesan Union of the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his son Anthony and his wife Deborah; his daughter Maryann and her husband Vincent; his daughter Patricia; his grandchildren Melissa, Lauren, Jennifer, Luke, Josette, Natalie, Dylan; great grandchildren Jonathan, Christina, Adrianna, Bradley, Brielle, Brandon, Charlotte and Jack; and his two brothers Joseph and his wife Jane, and Gerard and his wife Linda.
Visiting will be Thursday from 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne.
