John A. Vella, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on April 10, 2026. He was 75.
Mr. Vella was born on March 15, 1951 in New York City to the late Thomas and Mildred (Wilson) Vella. He served in the United States Air Force as a sergeant. For many years before his retirement he worked as an officer for the NYPD Transit District 12.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona (Santiago) Vella; his children, Jillian Nakano and her husband Michael, Jonathan Vella and his wife Kate, Anthony Vella, Joseph Vella, and Brianna Vella; his grandchildren, Carter Nakano, Chloe Vella, and Liam Vella.
Visiting will be Monday, April 13 from 4-8pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, April 14 at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton.
