Jose Antonio Pena Encarnacion

Jose Antonio Pena Encarnacion, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on February 23, 2026. He was 81.

Mr. Pena Encarnacion was born on July 16, 1944 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to the late Jose A. Pena Arias and Ernestina Encarnacion. He loved spending time with his friends and family. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need unconditionally. He helped out at the church by distributing food. In his free time, he enjoyed walking (especially to Canal Street), reading, dancing, and singing. José José was one of his favorite artists. He loved his dog Charlie, who went everywhere with him, and he misses him dearly now. In his native country he worked as an upholsterer, specializing in making mattresses. Later in New York he worked as an ironer in a cleaner among other jobs.

He is survived by his children, Quiley A. Pena Pineda, Ana Pena de Diclo, Yenni I. Pena de Blanchard, Danny Pena, and Carlos Pena; his grandchildren, Jennifer Ramirez Pena, Salvador Bernabel, Keily A. Diclo Pena, Kimberly Diclo Pena, Solange Blanchard Pena, Delen Blanchard Pena, Daniel Blanchard Pena, Sofia G. Pena Flores, Camila I. Pena Flores, Asia M. Pena, Danny N. Pena, and Nicolas A. Pena; his great-grandchildren, Sofia Camil Jimenez Ramirez, Amber Carolina Jimenez Ramirez, Bellaxexa Bernabel, Alexabelle Bernabel, and November Grace Pena; and his siblings, Rafael Pena Encarnacion, Julio Pena Encarnacion, Tulio Pena, Gabriel Malave, Luis Pena Valencia, Virtudes Pena Valencia, Altagracia Pena Valencia, and Felix Pena Valencia. He is pre-deceased by his siblings, Bienvenido Pena Valencia and Fernando Pena Valencia.

Visiting will be Wednesday, March 4 from 4pm to 8pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx.
