Luis Angel Fuentes, a lifelong resident of the Bronx, died on July 1, 2024. He was 67.
Mr. Fuentes was born on May 16, 1957 in the Bronx to Jose Luis Fuentes and Luz Enilda Velez. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, 2nd Infantry Division and retired from East Coast Core Drilling, formerly located in New Jersey, after many years. Angel had a big personality and sense of humor to match. He was a friend to all and the unofficial mayor of Van Nest. Everyone in the neighborhood adored him. He enjoyed working on his many cars over the years and caring for his dogs. He loved sharing stories about past adventures and experiences. Puerto Rico was home for him, and he loved being there. He touched the lives of everyone he met throughout his journey. He helped friends and relatives get started in the construction industry and inspired a young neighbor to join the military. Angel’s absence is profound and he will be forever missed.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Guzman; his son, Luis Angel Fuentes II; and his daughter, Christina Nicole Fuentes.
