Maria Vitale, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on June 11, 2026. She was 80.
Mrs. Vitale was born on November 26, 1945 in Casalnuovo di Napoli, Italy to the late Gioacchino and Maria (Sassone) DeCicco. For many years she owned and operated Il Corredo on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.
She is survived by her husband Vincenzo Vitale; her daughters, Antoinette Zaino and her husband Joe, and Christina D’Urbano and her husband Anthony; her grandchildren, Michael, Vincent, Andrew, Jack, Victoria, Nicholas, Giovanni, and Marisa; her siblings, Italia Tammaro, Antonio DeCicco, Pasquale DeCicco and Pietro DeCicco; and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Rosaria Vitale; and her siblings, Raffaele DeCicco, Filomena Ritieni, and Mario DeCicco.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 17 at 10:45am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 627 East 187th Street, Bronx. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale. In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
