Mary Christine Beverly, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on June 19, 2025. She was 97.
Mrs. Beverly was born on December 25, 1927 in Paulsboro, New Jersey to the late Oscar and Marian (Cauthern) Holmes. At the age of 50, Mary became a licensed social worker earning a Masters degree from Hunter College. She was active in her church community at Redeeming Love Christian Center volunteering for various activities such as Operation Blessing. Her commitment to Social Work extended beyond the office and reached all those she encountered. Mary cared for all she connected with and made their lives better for having entered it.
She is survived by her daughter, Miriam Beverly; son, Warren Beverly (Violet Beverly); daughter in love, Angelique Beverly (Richard Beverly); granddaughters, Aisha Beverly, Danielle Powell (Derek Powell); grandsons, Richard Beverly (Katie Beverly), Christopher Beverly; great grandchildren, Alexis Beverly, Levi Powell and Baby Boy Beverly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and cherished friends.
Visiting will be Friday, June 27 from 4-8pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. On Saturday, June 28 there will be visiting from 9am to 11am, followed by a funeral service at 11am, at Redeeming Love Christian Center, 145 Route 59, Nanuet. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Mantua Road, Mount Royal, New Jersey.
