Nicola Rinaldi, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on December 15, 2022. He was 79.
Mr. Rinaldi was born in Italy on January 13, 1943 in the small town of Castello del Matese. He was born to Michele and Angela Rinaldi. He came to America in 1960 working in weather stripping on windows & doors and in construction. While he was working in America he saw pictures of my mom living back in Italy and made it his mission to marry her. He went back to Italy in 1967, introduced himself, courted her and married the girl of his dreams.
He was one of founding brothers of Figli di Castello del Matese Italian social club in the Bronx for the past 30 years- which he loved and was so proud of his heritage. As like other Italians he loved the game of soccer. He played as a goalie on a team in Italy and was a big fan of the sport even watching the current World Cup.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Antonietta; his son Michael and his wife Linda; his daughter Angela and her husband Paul; his grandchildren Alina, Mikey, Emma and Anthony; his sister Maria and her husband Joe; his beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; all his loving nieces and nephews; and his pet chihuahua Jeter. He is now gone to Heaven to be with his other son Nicholas.
Visiting will be Sunday from 4-9pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale.
