Options to Suit Your Needs
Metal caskets are priced on the material that is used in manufacturing, interior fabric, hardware and handles, and design. Most metal caskets offer a sealing mechanism- which is a single rubber gauge that runs along the entire lid of the casket. When the casket is closed it is sealed to make it air and water-resistant. Occasionally a sealing mechanism is required by either a cemetery or an airline if the remains are to be transported.
Types of Metal Caskets
Solid Bronze
Bronze is the strongest of the metals and is naturally corrosion-resistant. It is made from an alloy combination of 90% copper and 10% tin. These caskets are measured in either 48 or 32 ounce (meaning that either 48 or 32 ounces of bronze is used per square foot of casket). All bronze caskets are made with velvet interiors. Solid Copper

Stainless Steel

16 Gauge Steel
Steel caskets are manufactured by the thickness of the steel. 16-gauge steel is the thickest steel used for casket manufacturing and is 1/16 of an inch thick. These caskets tend to be the best value in a casket selection because the material used is the thickest available in casket production and they are manufactured with urn-shaped corners without seams to strengthen the design. 18 Gauge Steel
Steel caskets are manufactured by the thickness of the steel. 18-gauge steel is a medium thickness used for casket manufacturing and is 1/18 of an inch thick. 18 gauge steel caskets are made with velvet or crepe interiors. See our selection of 18 gauge steel caskets by clicking here.
20 Gauge Steel
Steel caskets are manufactured by the thickness of the steel. A 20-gauge steel is the thinnest steel used for casket manufacturing and is 1/20 of an inch thick. All 20 gauge steel caskets are made with crepe interiors. Some 20 gauge steel caskets offer a non-sealing option. When closing the casket the lid would not be sealed and would be closed with a latch.
