In times of grief, making funeral arrangements can feel overwhelming. For Mexican families living in the United States, shipping your loved one's remains home adds another layer of complexity. Upholding traditional customs is an important part of this process.
Bronx Funeral Home offers repatriation services that honor cultural heritage. Our compassionate team guides you through every step of funeral shipping to Mexico. Let us handle the details, so you can focus on celebrating your loved one's memory.
Options for Funeral Shipping to Mexico
You can choose from three different options to suit your needs and preferences:
1. Full Visitation and Funeral Mass
This option includes a traditional wake, or “velorio,” and a funeral mass. We hold the velorio at our funeral home. Here, friends and family can gather to pay respects, offer solace or share stories about the deceased.
In Mexican Catholic tradition, a mass typically precedes the “novena,” or nine-day prayer. We ensure the funeral service aligns with the Catholic faith.
Our team takes care of the following:
- Transporting your loved one's body from the place of passing
- Preparing their remains
- Clergy costs
The full visitation and funeral mass option- excluding casket and airfare- costs $10,550.
2. Visitation Without Funeral Mass
Some families seek a peaceful gathering without a formal service. We provide a private space to honor your loved one through prayers, heartfelt tributes and communal support. This option includes professional care of the deceased to Mexico but does not include the casket or airfare. The cost is $8,960.
3. Direct Shipping Only
If you prefer to hold the velorio and funeral mass after your loved one arrives home, our direct shipping option focuses on transporting remains to Mexico. You provide us the information and we take care of the rest. The total cost of this option is $8,285.
Complimentary Added Services to Honor Your Loved One
We offer complimentary memorial options that involve storytelling, shared mementos and collective remembrance. These services support the spirit of community:
- Virtual visitation: For those who are unable to attend the wake in person due to distance, health or other reasons, we offer a visitation via Zoom. This provides an opportunity for family and friends to share their memories remotely.
- Memorial webpage: We can create an online tribute similar to an “ofrenda,” or altar, that serves as a lasting memorial. This page may include an obituary, photo gallery and message board.
- Photo slideshow: Our team designs a thoughtful slideshow from photos uploaded to a secure Dropbox link. These images capture treasured moments, celebrating the life of your loved one.
Specific Consulate Requirements for Transporting Remains
Consulates and Mexican authorities have specific requirements for the international shipping of remains. We will contact the relevant Mexican embassy or consulate for information. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers guidance for transporting the remains of Mexican citizens who pass away abroad.
