Evelyn Plata, a longtime resident of the Bronx, passed away on April 24th, 2025. She was 79 years old.
Evelyn was born on August 11, 1945 in Puerto Rico to the late Manuel Plata and Francisca Roman. She dedicated her life to her family and was always concerned about her loved ones well being. She took care of our home and made sure we had everything we needed.
Evelyn enjoyed a good laugh, music, good food, and movies- especially Lifetime movies. She enjoyed completing puzzles, playing games like Chinese Checkers, loteria, and scratch offs. Our favorite was to call her Evelyn the Builder because she was able to build and fix things. Our mother will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.
She leaves behind two sisters, Sylvia and Gloria; her children, Madge and Tidemon Douglas and Liza Cancel. Her grandchildren were able to experience her humor, joy and love. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, mother, grandmother, and friend.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 3 from 1pm to 5pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx.
I miss you ma (señorita Plats) ❤️
