My deepest condolences to Pat and family over the passing of your father. It has been many years ago we last met, but the times we spent were memorable and will never be forgotten. Joe was our adult mentor back then, and in the end it always led to fun and laughter. He was one of the good guys, who will surely missed. My blessings to the family.

We are forever grateful to have had Joe in our lives. My girls called Great Grandpa and the holiday cards he sent to them for every holiday will be treasured forever. I knew Joe was a solid man the moment I met him and of course without any doubt part of The Greatest Generation.
You just can’t find many like Joe! Love of Country and family.
Pat you had a wonderful father who loved you lots.
May God cover him with his grace as he welcomes him home.

My Uncle Joe was a kind and loving man who will be greatly missed. I grew up visiting Aunt Ida and Uncle Joe’s house and spent so many holidays with them, Pat and Michael too. Uncle Joe was also my father’s Godfather. Uncle Joe was one of the people my father looked up to the most and it has always been clear why. He was a great role model and he loved his family so much. He was a symbol of male hierarchy in the Mercury family.
I will always hold close to my heart, special memories of visiting Uncle Joe and conversations we had on the phone. He comforted me when I lost my dad, always offered words of love and encouragement. He always told my son Kai, “Now you make sure you take care of mommy” and he always ended our conversations with “I Love You” and “God Bless You”. In fact, that was exactly how my last conversation with him went, less than a week before he passed.
I am grateful I was able to enjoy him for so many years and that my son Kai got to spend time with him as well.
Uncle Joe was the holder of so much family information. I will miss listening to him share stories about our family, his time overseas while in the Navy and other memorable past times.
Uncle Joe lived a full life and is now resting peacefully. He is in Heaven with Aunt Ida, my dad Gary, and all the rest of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed here on Earth, until we are all reunited again. ,

Joe was a super guy. There was always fun and laughter when you were around him. The jokes, the Post Office and Golf Stories were amusing tidbits of life’s journey. We will miss him

My Uncle. Uncle Joe was like a second father to me. He was a great roll model and friend growing up with him always close by.
He gave me my first baseball glove and also first pair of football cleats. Along with these things he gave a lot of quality time playing catch with baseball and football. With that came being taught competition, who could throw it further. I remember one time Uncle Joe my, brother and I were playing football and he hurt his back throwing the ball. I never heard the end of how I hurt his back.
Mostly it was his friendship and advise that I treasured.

We were blessed for having him in our lives.

We are so sorry about the loss of Joe Mercury, we are very close friends of Pat and Michael and Joe was part of the family we formed with them. We always had a good time when Joe was around. The last time we spoke with Joe was on his 95th birthday, and he sounded great, and loved talking baseball with my husband, and always had lots of laughs. We will miss him so much, and are greateful for the relationship we had with him. WE LOVE YOU JOE, AND MAY YOU REST IN PEACE.

We will truly miss Joe. We lovingly called him Grandpa Joe and Great Grandpa Joe to our sons. We enjoyed seeing him each Christmas over the years, catching up and sharing stories about our busy lives, baseball, his days on the golf course with his pal Tony, his time in the Navy, his fun football wedding, as well as, celebrating many other holidays, joyous occasions and milestones together like our own wedding, Father’s Day, New Year’s Eve and his 90th birthday with many happy memories made. He was a big part of Pat and our Dad’s lives. Joe was a caring man and we will always remember him for his thoughtfulness and strength. Rest in peace. With love.

Great Uncle Joe. He was the best! Loved his stories, his sense of humor, his laughter, and treasure his words of wisdom. Great Uncle Joe is one in a million. So many wonderful memories of Uncle Joe, he will be missed. However, I can just imagine him reunited with our Aunt Ida, Grandma Vicki, and Grandpa Mario sharing their tales and all the laughter erupting from them. Thank you Great Uncle Joe for being so amazing in so many ways!!

    My dear cousin Joe.
I will miss him immensely. His character exuded integrity out of every pore. Made it my business to drive up to Unionport Road in the Bronx to visit him from time to time. Always wondered how much time we had left.
Cousin Joe was a kind and gentle soul. Every encounter with him gave me a warm sense of comfort.
He survived cancer three times and gave me a lot of hope. He was proof to me that happiness is fleeting feeling, and can only be experienced from within. His acceptance of life just as it is, and not as we want it to be. is was another awesome quality.
His acceptance of himself and contentment of self with whatever he had, was an admirable quality most people do not have.
Derived more family history from cousin Joe than I could from my own father. My father was his uncle Bobby.
I remember a birthday party for cousin Joe in a restaurant approx. 15 years ago. where my cousin Gary put a video together depicting cousin Joe Mercury , my father Robert Mercury and my father’s brother Uncle Joe all three of them, marching in union both robust and proud veterans of WW2, after discharge from diferent branches of military service.
Never forget my fathers words: “Time waits for no one”. Pray that God bless his spirit and allow all of us to be bestowed a piece of cousin Joe’s spirit. Also pray cousin Joe can feel me whever he dwells. Love forever Joe!!
