It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father Lloyd Austin Johnson, who left us on February 8, 2026.

Laydi as he was affectionately called by his friends was born in Honduras on October 29, 1929 of Jamaican parents. He worked for the United Fruit Company for over 40 years and after retirement he moved to the United States to be with his children. He was a loving father to his 5 biological children and 6 stepchildren. He was a man of few words but he was very loving to his family and kind to his friends. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. Lloyd is survived by his children Maribel, Jose, Claritza Ivania, Carlos, Marvin, Martha, Gicela, Miriam and 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Isabel Varela. Lloyd’s legacy is one of hard work, resilience, integrity and love for his family.

Visiting will be Friday, February 13 from 4-8pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, February 14 at 9am with the interment following at Woodlawn Cemetery, East 233rd Street and Webster Avenue, Bronx.
