Maira Villalon nació en Santiago de Cuba en el 1 de marzo de 1954. Era la hija mayor de Ofelia e Idilio Villalon. Se mudó al Bronx, Nueva York cuando tenía diecinueve años y se convirtió en ciudadana de los Estados Unidos en el 1979. Maira conoció a su esposo Pablo Torres en su lugar de trabajo mutuo, y después de años de intentarlo, finalmente le dio la bienvenida a su preciado hijo, Jesus Torres, en el 13 de octubre de 1990. El hijo de Maira era su hijo milagroso y el orgullo de su corazón.
Disfrutaba viajar con sus amigos y la alegría de ser abuela de su nieto. Era una vecina amable y amable y siempre echaba una mano a un amigo necesitado.
Maira fue una amada madre, abuela, hija, hermana y amiga. Falleció el 30 de septiembre de 2020 en su antiguo hogar en el Bronx, Nueva York. Le sobreviven su madre, su único hijo y nuera: Sherrone Torres, su nieto: Lincoln Torres, sus dos hermanos y dos hermanas. Su padre, su marido y su hermano: Raphael Villalon, todos fallecieron antes que ella. Su familia, amigos y todos los que la conocieron la extrañarán profundamente.

Maira Villalon was born in Santiago de Cuba on March 1, 1954. She was the eldest daughter of Ofelia and Idilio Villalon. She moved to the Bronx, New York when she was nineteen years old and became a citizen of the United States in 1979. Maira met her husband Pablo Torres at their mutual workplace, and after years of trying, finally welcomed their treasured son, Jesus Torres, on October 13, 1990. Maira’s son was her miracle child and the pride of her heart.
She enjoyed traveling with her friends and the joys of being a grandmother to her young grandson. She was a gracious and kind neighbor and would always lend a helping hand to a friend in need.
Maira was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She passed away on September 30, 2020 in her long-time home in the Bronx, New York. She is survived by her mother, her only son and daughter-in-law: Sherrone Torres, her grandson: Lincoln Torres, her two brothers and two sisters. She is predeceased by her father, her husband, and her brother: Raphael Villalon. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Visiting will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will be Friday at 1:45pm at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.
