Rosa Colón, 79, was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021, after a brave battle with dementia and metastatic cancer.
Rosa was born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, on August 30, 1941, the daughter of Eduviges Colón and Maria Morales. Rosa grew up in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY, raised by her aunt. There she became a seamstress, working hard to take care of her children; Carlos, Angie, and Bruni. She later met the love of her life, Juan A. Marrero (R.I.P.) and welcomed her 4th child Lillian, as well as her husband’s son, Felix, completing her loving tribe.
Rosa dedicated herself to her family. She worked diligently to give them a better life. She welcomed all, and unknowingly became everyone’s mom. She was brutally honest with a fiery attitude and quick as a whip, with a healthy obsession to music.
Rosa is survived by her children (Carlos, Angie, Bruni, Lillian and Felix), her grandchildren (Nicole, Sean, Maya, Ty, Fabian & Marina) and her great-grandchildren (Elijah, Saniyah, & Thalia), as well as her siblings, nieces and nephews that reside in NY and PR.
She is loved beyond measure, and will be truly missed.
We will celebrate her life and memory on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home located at 726 Morris Park Ave. Bronx NY 10462, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky,
Hundreds of shells on the shore together,
Hundreds of birds that go singing by,
Hundreds of birds in the sunny weather.
Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one Rosa MOM in the whole wide world
Oh mami’ Rosa what a beautiful festive (like you) home going your family had for you. I promise you I would have been there in person but circumstances would not allow me too. None-the-less I was there in spirit and we happily danced one last time together, and I heard you say “that’s it, WEPA Nana”❣️ Wonderful woman who accepted me as yours I LOVE YOU, and you are and will be forever missedMucho Beso’s
