Sandra Jean (Gaglio) Osso passed away peacefully at 88 years old on April 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 7, 1936 in Manhattan, New York, Sandra lived a full and rich life in the Bronx. Her loyal, honest, caring, strong-willed, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her. A devoted wife and mother, she dedicated much of her life to her family-proudly working at the Federal Reserve Bank before choosing to stay home and raise her four children. Her deep Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout her life.
Sandra found joy in life’s simple pleasures: cooking for loved ones, playing bingo with her friends, and trying her luck at the slot machines in Mohegan Sun. Her love of feeding those around her never waned-even suggesting pizza deliveries for those visiting her in the hospital. Ever the gracious host, she delighted in throwing lively parties that celebrated her heritage-with Polish music and polka dancing, Italian food, and, more recently, a toast with Tito’s.
Sandra met the love of her life, Raymond, at the age of 13- a bond that grew from candy store hangouts and neighboring homes on Barnes Avenue into a partnership that spanned seven decades. Their life together revolved around family, friends, and travel-especially to Italy, Florida, and Old Lyme, Connecticut, a cherished seaside retreat that became both a sanctuary from the bustle of New York and, eventually, the family’s second home.
Sandra is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Raymond, daughter Leora Tripoli and her husband Al, daughter Noreen lannitti, daughter Kathryn Vinzo and her husband Chris, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Agnes Gaglio, son Raymond Paul Osso, and brother Paul Gaglio.
Visiting will be Thursday, May 1 from 4-8pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. With Sympathy
Silvestri Family
Our heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Cherish the happy memories and may Sandra watch over you. May she Rest In Peace.
I met Sandra & Raymond when I was 10 yrs. old & moved to Matthews Ave. in the Bronx. She & Lorraine Sommerhalder (nee Chiodo) & I were the three Muscateers until we each married & moved on. Sandra’s house was my second home & her Mother Agnes was like a second mother to me.
Her sweet sixteen party at the Copacabana was the highlight of our teenage years. We reconnected about 12 years ago here in Florida with other old friends & enjoyed a long lunch with each other.
I am saddened by her passing & extend my deepest sympathy to Raymond & her family.
Remembering fondly,
Claudette Fabian
