Ana Colon Martinez, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on January 14, 2026. She was 89.
Mrs. Colon was born on July 13, 1936 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to the late Cristobal Colon and Estabania Martinez. She was the youngest child and the only sister in a house full of older brothers. From her roots in Puerto Rico to her years in the Bronx, Ana built a life defined by resilience, elegance, and an unwavering love for her family.
She was the proud mother of five daughters—Olga, Carmen, Margaret, Judy and Anita—and one son, Noel. She is survived by Olga, Carmen, Margaret, and Judy, and her spirit continues to flourish through the five generations of her lineage.
The Names of Her Legacy:
Her 12 Grandchildren: Lisette, Nelson, Michael, Jason, Jeanelle, Jeanette, Adrian, Kevin, Christina, Josh, Krystal, and Jay Anthony.
Her 20 Great-Grandchildren: Mariah, Steve, Justin, Infany, Matthew, Heaven, Jordan, Nicholas, Madison, Makayla, Brayden, Mike Jr., Kaylee, Tyler, Katie, Jaylene, Caiden, Rio, Shiloh and Zayn.
Her 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren: Alan, Priscilla, Aria, and Elias.
The vastness of these names represents the incredible legacy Ana leaves behind. She was a woman who was always full of life, greeting every new day with hope and a smile. No matter what was happening in the world, Ana chose happiness—and she did it while looking beautiful, with her hair, makeup, and nails perfectly done.
She taught us that strength is found in family, independence is a treasure, and your “spark” should never fade. We will never forget the chats, the laughs, and the dancing. We love you!
Visiting will be Tuesday, January 20 from 8:30am to 10:30am at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.
