Agustina Gonzalez, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on August 18, 2024. She was 92.
Mrs. Gonzalez was born on January 24, 1932 in Utuado, Puerto Rico to the late Ramon Boneta Mendez and Marcelina Roldan Perez. Before her retirement she worked relentlessly at the Human Resource Administration of New York in the welfare department for 26 years. She was an avid member of the United Bronx Parents Community group advocating for Puerto Rican families in the South Bronx. As an advocate for social justice she felt a great importance to attend the Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous address in Washington D.C. with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Nilsa Gonzalez; her son, John Gonzalez; her daughter, Evelyn Badillo; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren; and two great great great grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her husbands, Luis Gonzalez and Raymond Marrero; her son, Luis Vidal Gonzalez; her son, Miguel Angel Gonzalez; her daughter, Carmen Enid Gonzalez; and her daughter, Lucy Gonzalez.
Visiting will be Tuesday from 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Family and friends wishing to attend the visitation virtually may do so by clicking the following link at anytime during the visiting hours Gonzalez Virtual Visitation Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at 12:45pm at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.
