Carmela Balzano, a resident of New York, New Jersey and Florida, died on July 10, 2018. She was 89.
Mrs. Balzano was born on January 11, 1929 in New York City to the late Carmine and Julia (Lizzi) Sacchitello. On June 23, 1951 she married Neil J. Balzano. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Balzano is survived by her daughters, Karen Trimboli and her companion Harold, and Diane Balzano; her son, Michael Balzano; her grandchildren, Jillian Gibb and her husband David, Karla Trimboli, Christopher Balzano, and Michael Balzano; and her brother, Carmine Sacchitello and his wife Ann.
Mela as she was affectionately known was a fun loving, caring, generous woman. She was loved by anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She will be greatly missed and whenever we think of her we will smile.
Visiting will be Thursday from 9am to 11:15am at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 11:30am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org
