Carol DeGennaro

It is with profound sadness that the family of Carol DeGennaro announce the passing of their beloved mother. She was born in the Bronx on April 2, 1944 to Carmela “Millie” (Formisano) and Michael Acocella and passed peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022. She was 77. She is survived by her four children, Patricia, CariAnne (Greg) Zimny, Christopher and Steven. Predeceased by sister Marianne Lenna. And survived by sisters Katherine Kantor and Michele (Ken) Gilberg, and her grandchildren Jake, Joseph and Chase.

In her lifetime, she touched many lives, always putting others before herself. She brought her energetic personality to every occasion. She loved music and would dance the night away at many family parties. She was also a conscientious worker, spending 30 years as a Medical Secretary at Montefiore where she helped many people and received awards for perfect attendance and lifetime service. Although reluctant to retire, she kept busy walking and shopping on Morris Park Avenue and meeting with lifelong friends. She loved spending time with a her grandchildren and was a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews.

She was a warm and generous person; quick-witted and insightful, who could always be relied upon for good advice and counsel. She was brave, kind-hearted, loving and an inspiration to all of us. She will be greatly missed.

Visiting will be Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022 from 4-8pm at Joseph A Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx, NY.
