Doris Alicia Rodriguez Ramos Aponte, a beloved resident of the Bronx, passed away on April 26, 2024.
Doris, the youngest of nine, was born to Francisca Aponte and Pablo Ramos in the small town of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. She fell in love with Jose Rodriguez Hernandez, and together they embarked on a journey that led them from the green hills of Yabucoa to the bustling streets of New York City. As a devoted mother, Doris raised five children while embracing her strong Catholic faith and actively participating in her church community.
Doris was known for her unwavering strength, independence, and kindness. With her sharp wit and diplomatic demeanor, she had a remarkable ability to diffuse any situation. Her friendly nature endeared her to many, and she touched countless lives with her warmth and compassion.
She is survived by her children, Doris R. Sharp and her husband William D. Sharp, Solange R. Rodriguez, Joseph R. Rodriguez and his wife Annette Rodriguez, Shirley R. Rodriguez Lee-Kin and her husband Anthony Lee-Kin, and Douglas R. Rodriguez and his wife Norma Diaz-Rodriguez; her grandchildren, Joseph Rodriguez and his wife Jeannette Rodriguez, Steven Rodriguez and his wife Sofia Rodriguez, Brittany Rodriguez, Grayson Lee-Kin, Mekayla Rodriguez Santiago, Brandon Rodriguez, and Jared Lee-Kin; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew Rivera, Imalai Barboza-Mendez, Steven Rodriguez, Jaylene Rodriguez, Rosalia Rodriguez, and Idalia Rodriguez.
Doris’s wish to pass away peacefully in her own home was granted. As she once again roams the green hills of Yabucoa, we will forever cherish her memory and hold her close in our hearts.
Visiting will be Thursday from 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 1pm at St. Clare’s Church, 1918 Paulding Avenue, Bronx. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, East 233rd Street and Webster Avenue, Bronx.
