Estela Maria Santana

Estela Maria Santana, a longtime resident of the Bronx,  went on to eternal life with our Lord on December 29, 2022.

Mrs. Santana was born April 14, 1938 in Haina, Dominican Republic to the late Estanilado Santana and Leonor Carmona. She immigrated to the United States in the 1960’s settling down in New York City seeking a better future. She worked as a seamstress and a home attendant caring for the elders. She was an avid catholic and member of Our Lady of Solace/St. Dominic Church. She loved gardening and had a plant of almost every kind. Growing her own herbs was her specialty. She had an infectious smile that lite up any room. Caring, loving, kind, humble, very funny, generous. She was a great cook and was known for her delicious pastelitos, fried chicken, lasagna, meatballs and the famous “arepa de Estela”.

She is survived by her daughter Annette and her husband Domingo; her son Julio and his wife Monica; her four grandchildren Julian, Nyah, Dylan and Angelie; and two great-grandkids Julian Mason and Janaris. She leaves behind a brother Miguel and a sister Milagros as well as nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Visiting will be Thursday from 4-8pm, with a service at 7pm, at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Family and friends wishing to attend the visitation virtually may do so by clicking the following link at any time during the visitation Santana Virtual Visitation  Interment will be Friday at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.

    Doña Estela was a beautiful Lady inside and out, always with a smile, very kind, loving, she dressed impeccable with a lot of natural Elegance. Doña Estela made the best Arepa and the best Pastelitos. Doña Estela will always be in our hearts with that sincere smile. We will miss you.
