Frank Hernandez, a lifelong resident of the Bronx, died on September 6, 2024. He was 73.
Mr. Hernandez was born on November 2, 1950 in New York, New York to the late Frank Hernandez and Donata (Gonzalez) Hernandez. He was lead mechanic for Con Edison for 38 years where he was a first responder during the September 11th attacks, and a beloved assistant coach to the St. Dominic’s School girls’ basketball teams. He was a member of the Van Nest Neighborhood Association, the Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) group with Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Triumphant Stars/Spanish Support Group, and Our Lady of Solace Church.
He is survived by his daughter Tammy Rega, her husband John, and his grandchildren Logan and Noelle; his daughter Christine, her wife Dawn, and his granddaughter Samantha, and Antionette Hanser and her husband Jonathan.
Visitation will be Friday, September 13, 2024 from 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will be private.

Tomorrow is another day to pay respect and reflect on the life of my great uncle Frankie a bubbly soul always happy always smiling laughing a real jokester! He was a great conversationalist and loved by sooo many! Uncle Frankie thanks for the wonderful memories I have of growing up and being around my cousins Tammy and Tina an aunt Sharon the memories at 557 are priceless! I loved Ida Carmella neighbors that were more like family! To one of my 1st boyfriend in the neighborhood another Robert! We had some of the most fun when you would take us all bowling!! Then some of the most exciting time was when we gathered to watch the football games were epic! That’s how I became a Giants fan I can go on an on to how my grandfather loved an adored his baby brother!! kiss gpa when u see him! I love you an I will truly miss you your memory will live on in my heart! Also through your 1st born Tammy that truly looks so much like you! That Hernandez blood is strong she looks more like my mom then me and your wonderful Grandchildren Noel and Logan they are amazing I’m glad you really got to enjoy them and can see they were your pride and joy and your amazing baby daughter Major Christina who we are all proud of but maybe not as much as you and gpa Gilly LOL Sleep in peace GREAT-UNCLE it hurts to say goodbye or see you later Tammy Hernandez-Rega
