George Henry Torres, son of Julio E. Torres and Juanita Torres (deceased), a lifelong resident of the Bronx, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Born on March 2, 1961, in New York, New York, George attended Mount Saint Michael High School in the Bronx and later received a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Brockport. He had a long career with the Xerox Corporation and worked in several locations including the World Trade Center. It was his late shift schedule that saved his life on September 11, 2001, giving us many more years to share with him.
George helped his sister, Michelle Memoli, raise her children Arianna Elaine Memoli and Vincent Alexander Memoli. He loved and treated them as if they were his own children because in his heart, they were. George, affectionally known by many as “Uncle George” was always available to help his family and was a good friend to the select few that he allowed in his inner circle.
He is survived by his father, Julio E. Torres of the Bronx, NY; his brother, James P. Torres and his wife, Lydia Mendez of Plainfield, NJ; his sister, Michelle M. Memoli, of Peekskill, NY; his niece, Arianna E. Memoli of Brooklyn, NY; his nephew, Vincent A. Memoli of Peekskill, NY; his aunt Antonia Quintero of Peabody, MA and many cousins. Besides, his mother, Juanita Torres, he was preceded by his sisters, Maria Milagros Torres and Maria Dolores Torres of the Bronx, NY.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 10:30 am – 1:00 pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx, New York.
