Gregoria “Sofia” Pineda passed away in the early morning on Thursday, May 9th 2024 at the age of 73.
She is survived by her daughters, Iris and Vivianna, her sons, Edwin and Manny, and her grandchildren, Justin, Miles, Alex, Sophie, Sebastian and Nyla.
Sofia was born in the Dominican Republic but spent most of her life in the Bronx loving and supporting friends and family. She was famous for her yearly Christmas parties that began on the Eve and extended into the early morning, attended by as many as a seventy people: the music so loud you couldn’t but dance and the food flowed from the ovens all night long.
She has found peace, but has not left us as so many have been forever moved by her endless kindness, self sacrificing care, swift sense of humor, embracing warmth and forgiving nature.
