Jeanette Mendola Obituary Photo

Jeanette Mendola , 92, of the Bronx, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on December 21, 2025.

Born on May 16, 1933 in the Bronx to Marie and Sylvestro Contessa. Jeanette was the heart and glue of her family—strong, devoted, and endlessly giving. She took care of everyone, always putting others first, and made her home a place where people felt safe, fed, and loved.

Family was everything to her. She cherished time together, celebrations, and the everyday moments that became the best memories. She also had a fun spirited side and loved to gamble—she enjoyed the thrill, the laughs, and the stories that came with it. In addition Jeanette was a devout New York Yankee fan, a great cook and loved doing it. She was especially proud of her Italian heritage and traditions.

She is survived by her beloved children: her son, Arthur; her daughter Rosemary and son-in-law Nicky. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Salvatore Mendola, daughter-in-law Gloria (wife of Arthur), her oldest brother Michael, and loving sisters Gloria and Lucille.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to the loves of her life Vincent and Melanie, Regina and Michael, Nicole, Arthur and Elizabeth, Nicholas and Joclyn, Salvatore, and Maria, who brought her endless joy and pride. She had a special relationship with each of them. Jeanette was also blessed to have witnessed and spend many years with her great grandchildren, Vincent, Gianna, Daniel, Violet, Arthur James, Audriana, Melina, Eva, Nico and Skyler.

Jeanette leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, generosity, and devotion to family and her job that she had for 65 years for Doctor Joseph and Louis Criscione and Doctor Sidney Simon on Victor Street. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visiting will be held on Monday, December 29 from 4pm to 8pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx.
