John Gervasi, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on October 30, 2018. He was 77.
Mr. Gervasi was born in New York City on June 29, 1941 to the late John and Elena (Blasio) Gervasi- and raised by his step-mother Marie. He served in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1966 and retired from the New York City Police Department as a detective. On August 4, 1963 he married Celia Melendez. She died in 2010.
He is survived by his son John Gervasi and his wife Michelle; his daughter Kimmarie Goldade and her husband James; four grandchildren, John, Michael, Gianna, and Angelina; four step-grandchildren, Robert, Samantha, Kalie, and Maddox; three brothers, John, Robert, and Michael; many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother Angelo.
Visiting will be Friday 4-9pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 1075 Van Nest Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at the Old St. Raymond’s Cemetery, East Tremont & Balcom Avenue, Bronx. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Calvary Fund, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, New York 10461.
