Jose Miguel Belardo, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on May 24, 2024. He was 86.
Mr. Belardo was born on December 10, 1937 in Viques, Puerto Rico to the late Candido and Providencia (Rijos) Belardo. He served in the United States Armed Forces as a paratrooper from 1956-1958. For many years he worked as a manager at a local dry cleaner. He was also an avid member of the Casa Boricua Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife Carmen Belardo; his daughter Darlene Garcia and her husband Lazaro; his son Mark Valcarcel and his wife Julie; his grandchildren: Gabriel Garcia, Jerónimo Valcarcel, Leanne Schiano and Tei-moc Valcarcel; his great grandchildren: Sophia Schiano, Valentina Valcarcel and Gianluca Schiano; and his siblings: Nimia Salabarria and Brunilda Belardo.
Visiting will be Wednesday from 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1900 Crotona Parkway, Bronx. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Calverton.
