Marianna Schiliro, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on September 2, 2024. She was 87.
Mrs. Schiliro was born on June 9, 1937 in Cesaro, Italy to the late Silvestro and Calogera (Lagati) Messina. She was a very religious woman who loved attending church where she celebrated and honored many saints, being devoted particularly to St. Rita. She was a great cook who loved having family visit, especially her children, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and lived by the philosophy that it was better to give than to receive.
She is survived by her husband, Silvestro Schiliro; her son, Salvatore Schiliro; her daughter, Lucille Bulfamante and her husband the late Sebastian Bulfamante; and her grandchildren, Daniela Schiliro-DePaolis, Maria Bulfamante-Perez, Marc Schiliro, Alyssa Bulfamante, and Lauren Bulfamante.
Visiting will be Friday from 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Entombment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.
