Marie Giselle Pierre Louis, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on June 3, 2026. She was 89.
She was born in Jeremie, Haiti on August 2nd, 1936, to Anne Lundi (known to the family as Gran) and her father Nestor Pierre. At a young age she migrated to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. While residing in Port-au- Prince, she met her husband Marc Louis and together they welcomed four daughters. Her passion was watching her children succeed. In the community called Ru Nord Alexis, Manman was known as Madam Marc. She was a homemaker and a business woman, known for her delicious “ti-carole” in all flavors. She was the go to person and a good listener that would give great advice. She loved to cook and bake, her signature dish was macaroni grate. This signature meal has travelled through generations within the family and remains a staple meal at family gatherings. She was blessed with a large loving family. Those who knew her in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Canada, and the United States, recognized her as the “Manman” of all. While many called her “matant” she was truly a mother to countless people. Her warm smile reflected the pure love she carried in her heart. She was a pillar of faith and family loved by so many. A caring, compassionate person who loved everyone, a mother figure to many, and one who open her home and heart to everyone. A resilient woman who faced life challenges with grace. She was a believer that gave her life to Christ, and was baptized on November 1, 2015 from “Eglise Evangélique La Résurrection”. Her favorite scripture to quote was Psalm 91. She enjoyed sitting by the window reading her bible, and when she wasn’t by the window she was watching Shekinah with her sister Leonne. She will be deeply missed, but her love and the memories we all shared will remain in our hearts. Her lasting legacy was her unwavering faith and her constant encouragement for others to place their trust in God.
Visiting will be Saturday, June 13 from 11am to 1pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx.
