
Mary Fontana, a longtime resident of Eastchester, died on February 3, 2021. She was 89.
Mrs. Fontana was born on November 5, 1931 in the Bronx to the late Francesco and Maria (D’Alise) Fontana. For many years before her retirement she was a teacher and assistant principal with the New York City Board of Education.
She is survived by her brothers, Emanuel Fontana and his wife Emily and Frank Fontana and his wife Marie Elena; her nieces and nephews, Frank Fontana, Mario Cilento and his wife Andrea, Dominick Fontana and his wife Amy, Lenore Viola, Patricia Fontana, Paula King and her husband Marcus, and Christina Fontana; and her grandnieces and grandnephews, Jessica Viola, Amanda Viola, Grace Cilento, Sofia Cilento, Samuel Fontana, Rebecca King, Emma Cilento, Sophie Fontana, and Trevor King. She is pre-deceased by her husband Maximo Ortega and her sister Bianca Aurora Cilento and her husband Ray.
Visiting will be Saturday from 9am to 11am, with a funeral service at 11am, at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale.
