Matthew J. Shackel, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on October 8, 2026. He was 99.
Mr. Shackel was born on February 15, 1927 in New York City to the late James and Kristina (Hluchy) Shackel. He served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant in World War II and worked as a carpenter for many years before his retirement.
Visiting will be Saturday, October 10 from 8:30am to 10:30am at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.
