Nancy A. Stehling
Beloved sister, aunt, friend, colleague & neighbor
Nancy Alice Stehling (70) passed away on December 1, 2025 in the Bronx, NY following a brief illness. Nancy was born on April 14, 1955, to Alice and William Stehling, Jr. in New York, NY. She was raised in the Bronx where she lived her entire life.
Nancy always knew what she wanted to do in life: archaeology. After attending Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, she graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 1977 with a degree in Anthropology and Geology. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Public Archaeology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1980.
While working on an archaeological dig, Nancy met George Myers, her life partner of more than 40 years. Nancy was a diehard New York Yankees fan, a lifelong lover of The Rolling Stones and an avid gardener. She and George also enjoyed vacationing at her cabin near Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and visited there often.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Helen, brother-in-law Richard, nieces Jacqueline and Christine, nephew William, her cherished grand-nephews Shane, Ryan, Wesley and Gavin, her grand-niece Kate, and beloved friends and colleagues from AECOM.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, December 16 from 2-6pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her name to The New York Public Library or Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Nancy lived a life of fairness, independence and integrity, which will live on. Rest in peace, TT, you’ve earned it.
