Patsy Eugene D’Amore, aged 92, passed away on October 21, 2024, in the Bronx, New York.
Born on April 26, 1932, Eugene was a lifelong resident of the Bronx and a cherished member of the community. Eugene served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1960, during which he was stationed in Korea. His service was distinguished by the receipt of several commendations, including the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, reflecting his dedication and valor. After his military service, Eugene attended New York University and pursued a pioneering career as a computer programmer, retiring from Mutual of America in 1991. Eugene was known for his quick wit and friendly demeanor. He loved his family, nature, and enjoyed traveling the world. Eugene was a longtime member of the Harlem Yacht Club and Pleasantville Country Club, where he enjoyed darts and golf with friends. He was also an active member of the International Society of Professional Trackers and the NRA, showcasing his interests that incorporated both comradery and nature.
Eugene was predeceased by his father, Arturo D’Amore; mother, Vincenza (Cardillo); and sisters, Gemma D’Amore and Mary Miller (Mitchell Miller). He is survived by his nieces, Mara Miller (Jesse Carrier) and her children Jack and Natalie Carrier who loved Eugene like a grandfather, and Rebecca Rose (Thomas Oliver). Eugene is also survived by several beloved cousins.
Visiting will be Saturday from 8:30am to 10:30am at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx, New York 10462. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eugene’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital , the Bronx Zoo , or the Make-A-Wish Foundation , organizations that were close to his heart.
