Rosario Soto, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on September 29, 2024. He was 77.
Mr. Soto was born on October 7, 1946 in Puebla, Mexico to the late Lucas Soto and Balbina Sanchez. He loved baseball. He was an avid Mets fan and was part of teams called San Cristobal, Tepeojuma, Blue Jays, and San Cristobal.
He is survived by his wife, Ausencia Genis Alonso; his children and their spouses, Elodia Soto Genis and Noe Esteves Pineda, Maria del Carmen Soto Genis and Antonio Torres, Sylvia Soto Genis and Eladio Martinez, and Isaac Soto Genis and Esperanza Primero Flores; and his grandchildren, Cristian Torres Soto, Melina Torres Soto, Caleb Torres Soto, Luis Esteves Soto, Alondra Esteves Soto, Mari Dalia Esteves Soto, Jessica G. Martinez Soto, Kaylee Soto Primero, Rachel Soto Primero, Miley Soto Primero, and Justin Soto Primero.
Visiting will be Sunday from 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Family and friends wishing to attend the visitation virtually may do so by clicking the following link at any time during visiting hours Soto Virtual Visitation . Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.
