Venanzio Assalone, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on January 2, 2022. He was 91.
Mr. Assalone was born on July 6, 1931 in Gallo, Italy to the late Domenico and Domenica (Rochhio) Assalone. For many years before his retirement he worked in the construction industry. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Maria Assalone née Castaldo; his children, Donna Cipollone, Rosemaria Capogreco and her husband Len, Pasqualina English and her husband Robert, Domenic Assalone and his wife Catherine, John Assalone, and Pat Assalone and his wife Karen; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother. He is pre-deceased by his son-in-law Domenico and his brother Giovanni.
Visiting will be Friday from 4-8pm at John Dormi & Sons Funeral Home, 1121 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 1703 Lurting Avenue, Bronx. Entombment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx.
